If you are trying to come up with some great ideas for a fun-filled family summer this year, why not consider putting a visit to Six Flags on your list.  Our blog keeps track of all of the latest promotions for a dozen of the parks nationwide.  Just because our nation is experiencing some economic difficulties right now doesn’t mean that we all have to forgo family memories.  Instead, get creative about tightening your belt in other ways so that you can have one big bonanza during the summer months.  Rather than a vacation, consider a “stay-cation” where you plan some day trips.  Look for specials like free days at museums, do some berry-picking as a family, enjoy a picnic lunch at a nearby park, and plan for that one great day at Six Flags.  Summer fun might be a bit more economical these days, but with online promotions, we can still squeeze out a great day at a theme park.

How Can I Get Ahold of Discovery Kingdom Coupons?

We are planning a trip to California this year, and my kids want to visit the Six Flag theme park out in Vallejo, California.  I started doing some research and found out that Discovery Kingdom Coupons can be found online.  Before we leave for our trip, all I need to do is print out tickets for everyone at the low “everyone pays kids’ price” of $29.99.  If we paid at the gate, the cost would be $15 per person more — and that adds up for a family of five!  While I’m at it, I’m also going to purchase one day’s worth of advance parking for additional savings and convenience.  For people who live near Discovery Kingdom, season passes are available for only $49.99 — that’s $10 less than the 2009 price.  Wish us luck on our vacation this year . . . now if only I can talk my daughters into one suitcase each!

Six Flags Home School Days

Did you know that many of the Six Flags parks nationwide open the park during the school year just for the home schooling community?  The dates vary depending on the park.  For instance, Six Flags Over Georgia tends to hold the date in May.  In Vallejo, California, Magic Mountain holds their annual day in November.  In Chicago, Great America’s home school day is usually the first Thursday after Labor Day.  And Six Flags Over Texas holds their date in May.  This is a great field trip opportunity for home schoolers, and the parks often provide special prices and deals including catered lunches for groups.  Usually for this particular event, a special form has to be downloaded for groups and a check needs to be mailed in to secure the catering.  But no worries — the deep discounts are still available.  For more information, contact the theme park directly — they will send you a PDF form to download and fill out.

Save on Family Vacations With Six Flags Coupon Codes

With Six Flags coupon codes, visiting several of the parks nationwide is a great idea when planning family vacations.  Being a native Chicagoan and visiting Six Flags Great America every since I was an adolescent, I wanted to check out some online reviews to see what others are saying about different Six Flags theme parks nationwide. I loved what I found regarding Six Flags Magic Mountain’s Goliath roller coaster. One person said “Goliath has a really GREAT drop, and is quite possibly the smoothest coaster on the face of this earth. It has great speed and a very good design. Goliath pulls some 4.5+ positive G’s while going around in a wide circle 2 times.” Another person said of Six Flags America Baltimore/Washington DC “Good for the whole family; One or two of them love coasters, one or two don’t, and everyone loves the water park! Enough coasters to get you through the day; without big crowds, and you can hit each multiple times. The water park is bigger than you think, and free. A medium-section of the park separated for toddlers, great for families. Pretty cheap (for an amusement park), and clean.”  Since California and Washington DC are two family vacations I am dreaming of in the future, looks like the online savings will add up!

Family Trip to Six Flags Great America

Last summer my husband and I packed up our kids and headed out for a day at Great America in Gurnee, Illinois outside of Chicago.  We saved a lot of money by purchasing our tickets online.  We started out on a great water ride which all the kids loved, and my husband appreciated the fact that my clothes and shoes were soaked while he remained dry (he had baby duty).  It was all a blur after that.  We went on so many great rides.  We saw a movie in 3D at the theater which was a perfect opportunity for mom and dad to rest while the kids enjoyed the space themed flick.  My teenage son, of course, wanted to hit the roller coasters, and for some reason my husband makes me go with him.  Not sure what that’s all about!  The younger child area was a family favorite, as was some of the family rides we went on together like driving the old-fashioned vehicles.  We spent a lot of time at the bumper cars too.  It was a great day full of sights, music, rides, food, and family fun!

Toddlers and Teenagers — Something for Everyone

We are one of those big families where it’s hard to do something as a group that keeps everyone happy.  The answer?  A day at a Six Flags Theme Park offers something for everyone.  My oldest son Mike is a teenager, and while he likes to hang out with the family, he wants us to keep our distance in public and not mess with his cool.  Michelle and Mark are close in age (10 and 7 respectively), so they’re pretty easy.  Erik is 5 — one foot in pre-school and one foot in the big kid world.  Julie will be 2 this year, and of course the world revolves around her.  So this year we are going to forget about the recession for just one day and take advantage of the huge savings available to us by checking out Six Flags online deals.  Whether thrill rides for my older kids, or a play area and rides just for the toddlers, Six Flags has something for all of us this season.
